Extra-Ordinary Visitation of Rev. Fr. Guillermo Basanes, SDB, General Councillor for Missions



BRO under NABARD TDF BOLGRIM project, conducted three days ‘Skill Training for Local Voluntary Health Workers’ on August 22, 23 and 24, 2016 at Bosco Reach Out’s Head Office, Guwahati, Assam. The 33 participants of the training includes ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Local Voluntary Health Workers, BOLGRIM Field Staff and BRO Field Staff. BRO Head Office staff also joined the sessions for a day. Inauguration of the training was
attended by Fr. Thomas Kunnappillil the BRO’s Executive Director, Fr. Joseph Teron the BRO’s Associate Director, and Fr. A. Jayaprakash the BRO’s
Assistant Director.
Topics covered during the training included topics like; Being an ASHA, defining a healthy community, skill required of an ASHA, knowing about health, hygiene and illness, infectious diseases -tuberculosis, leprosy and malaria, maternal health, newborn care, infant and young child nutrition,
reproductive diseases and care. The resource person, Sr. Prabha, Faculty Member of Tura Nursing College, Holy Cross Hospital gave inputs very actively. She explained the topics with video clips to make it interesting, realistic and understandable. An open session with Sr. Prabha helped the participants to discuss the issues and share their experiences. The participants were satisfied and gained knowledge on the topics discussed. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to the organizers and resource persons. They requested that a few more trainings be conducted in the near future.
An inspiring audio-visual session on Mother Teresa was conducted by Fr. A. Jayaprakash to showcase the spirit of services rendered with love and
kindness for the rural poor and needy.
